Meet the Team
Olivia Meredith
My name is Olivia Meredith one of the founders of Leah charity foundation. Back in 2016 I met a couple while I was working on maternity ward who had come to give birth at Kiwoko hospital. I was the one assisting that woman during her labour and I had to receive her baby when she gave birth with the assistance of a senior midwife. I had asked the husband of the woman to get me baby clothes that they want me to put the baby in but the husband was giving me excuses. Later I followed the husband to see if they had baby cloths in their bags but I just found a dirty sack of dirty dirty cloths under the small flower tress at the hospital. The man looked at me and he gave me the dirty bedsheets that they use at home. I froze and I felt like crying, This broke my heart to see a new-born baby to be put in such cloths or to be wrapped in dirty bedsheets. The man also burst into tears and he said. nurse, I love my wife and now the mother to my beautiful baby but I couldn't afford to buy any clothes for the baby as I didn't have any money. This hurt me deep in my heart and I begged the midwife I was working with if I could run back to school in the hostel and pick some clean bedsheets. The midwife was good and she allowed me. I quickly rushed and got my two clean bedsheets, cut them into 4 and I picked some of my clothes and 5000ugandan shillings (1pound) money I had on me, I got some soap and sugar and I carried some pads for the mother She burst into tears and knelt down to thank me. I seriously started a to cry with her and I told her GOD is our provider and He knew this baby while still in your womb, therefore trust in GOD to provide. From that day my heart grew very strong and I stared helping more patients in similar situations
On march 2017 we started up Good Samaritan heart ministry which merged to be called Leah charity foundation with Habib Lutalo. Both of us were nursing students and other students soon joined us. We have now served the communities of Kiwoko, Nakaseke and Luwero for 8years and we are looking forward to helping more and more people in Uganda. We are now a registered charity and by Gods help we are still serving and we have bigger dreams of making this charity a home for the homeless, a real place of hope for the hopeless and a charity which shares love to others as God loves us.

Greetings everyone.
My name is habib lutalo. A ugandan. I'm a proud member of leah charity foundation. We started as good samaritan ministry on 17th March 2017 but during registration,We had to choose another name because the former was rejected.
As one of the founders alongside Olivia meredith. Its a privilege to write here happily for the milestones. We thank God that we are of worth.
Olivia meredith being the mother to leah from whom our charity was named. And John meredith husband to Olivia. They really went through a tough time bringing leah to life. And to thank God and honour leah's life. We named our charity after her.Another reason being that its an honour to the support Olivia renders to the charity.
It hasn't been easy 8 years down the road. We've had so many outreaches, memories and impact to the communities. Its our joy when we see people smiling.
Quoting from the bible. We are blessed to bless. ROMANS 12:13, SHARE WITH THE LORD'S PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP.
I AM BLESSED TO BLESS OTHERS. thank you. Ble blessed
Tracy Nakanwagi
Praise God, brethren. I am Nakanwagi Tracy, and this is my story with Leah Charity Foundation. I joined the foundation, initially called Good Samaritan, in 2018 while in my second semester at Kiwoko Health Training Institute. I had heard of the ministry but lacked detailed information. One evening, while walking to our hostel from the dining hall, Brother Habib spoke to me about the ministry’s work—counseling, preaching, and aiding the needy at Kiwoko Hospital and in the community. This inspired me to join, as I saw many sick individuals and their attendants struggling to afford food and hospital bills.
I started as a member and became the secretary in 2019 until 2020, collaborating closely with Brother Zaale Hope, the chairperson, and Brother Mbaabali Moses, the mobilizer, to advance the ministry. During our time, we conducted outreach to hospitals and gathered funds to provide necessities for those in need. We also presented during morning devotions to raise awareness, visiting schools to counsel students. However, we faced resistance from school administrators, who insisted we focus on our studies, not ministry activities. Thanks to Chaplain Ssemaganda Steven, the late, and our patron Mr. Okalang Amos, who advocated for our community efforts, we persevered.
In 2020, we encountered challenges due to COVID-19, which hindered our goals as time at school shortened. I thank the Almighty for allowing us to extend love to others, and I feel blessed to be part of the Leah Charity Foundation.
John Meredith
I was first introduced to this charity through my wife Olivia who started it with her friend Habib. I am now head of the trustees for the charity, and I must say, seeing how God has blessed this charity is amazing to see. The people who have been supported and those we are aiming to support are just so grateful for all the charity does. I had the great privilege of witnessing first hand, through a mission in Kiwoko at Easter the work the charity does. It felt real when we carried out the outreach in one of the villages where we found a family which really needed help with all the basic needs. We interviewed this family of 5 kids with their father and mother and the question I asked the woman was what do you want us to help you with? she replied. The only thing I want is to be able to get a small stall where I can sell vegetables, and I get some money to take care of my children. This meant a lot to her and I realised that some people just need a starting point of help in order to change their lives. She never asked for money, never asked for a better house, never asked for food yet she needed all of that. This stirred my heart really into wanting to get involved in the charity to help the most needy people in Uganda.
